Regional Business Meet for “Promotion of Biomass Gasifiers for Thermal and Electrical Applications”

TERI organized the first Regional Business Meet for “Promotion of Biomass Gasifiers for Thermal and Electrical Applications” at Jodhpur (Rajasthan) on November 23, 2006 in association with the Jodhpur Industries Association. It is being supported by the MNRE (Ministry of New and Renewable Energy) and forms part of the CoSMILE (Competence Network for Small and Micro Learning Enterprises) initiative supported by the SDC (Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation).

The program was inaugurated by the Director, MNRE (Ministry of New and Renewable Energy).The participants of the meet included prominent industrialists of Jodhpur and owners of steel re-rolling, guar gum, namkeen and hotel industries, members of Jodhpur Industries Association, representatives from Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation, TERI licensee manufacturers of biomass gasifier systems.

An overview of biomass gasifier program and CoSMiLE project of TERI was provided to the participants. The technical sessions focused on biomass gasification technology, TERI’s initiatives on biomass gasifier, customised technology packages for thermal gasifiers and application of gasifiers for power generation applications. The MNRE elaborated various financial incentives applicable for adoption of biomass gasifiers by the industries. One of the salient features of the business meet was demonstration of biomass gasifier based institutional cooking system and turbo stove. TERI has planned to organise the remaining three Business Meets at Bikaner, Chandigarh and Dehradun.
